Our Founding Eight: It Started With Them
In a powerful turning point for Silver Springs Equine 2024 Inc., eight Brumbies have officially become the heart of our foundational journey, marking the beginning of a vision we've held close for a long time.
These eight represent more than just a number. They symbolise resilience, heritage, and hope.
Meet them:
Haylee & Ellee – A brave mum and her foal, bonded through survival and now adjusting gently to a new rhythm of life.
Flynn, Kye & Koa – Young, alert, and filled with the untamed spark of the High Country. They are beginning to find their footing in a world of care and safety.
Delta & Denny – A striking blue roan mare and her colt, Denny, who carries the surprise of soft blue eyes that are deeply mesmerising.
Stormee – Our gorgeous black mare, named by the kids at the Cooma Pony Club. She stands tall, observing her surroundings, and is slowly settling into her new chapter with quiet strength and grace.
These Brumbies never needed saving, until they were forced to.
They didn’t ask to leave their home in the Kosciuszko National Park. But government control measures have seen them removed from the only life they knew. That’s where we stepped in. Not because they needed us, but because decisions beyond their control left them without a choice.
We didn’t choose this moment, we responded to it.
Transitioning from wild to care is no small thing. It takes time, trust, and patience. Every footstep, every interaction, every gentle glance is part of a journey we honour with deep respect. These Brumbies are not just adjusting to a new environment, they’re learning to feel safe again.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve already provided feed tubs, hay nets, water troughs, mineral blocks, shade mesh, and new fencing. More panels and a new gate are on the way. These aren’t just tools—they are the foundation of something greater.
This is what your donations do.
This is why we launched the Brumby Land Project, our flagship fundraiser and a cornerstone of our mission.
Our goal is to secure a permanent property, a place the charity will own outright. A preserve, as we like to call it.
This will be a place where Brumbies, removed through no fault of their own, can live with dignity, in safety, and in peace. A place where families of Brumbies can stay together. A place that reflects the wildness they come from, while offering them the respect and protection they deserve.
This isn’t just about land.
It’s about legacy.
And it’s about taking a stand for the future of Australia's wild heritage horses.
We’re just getting started.
And it all began with eight.
