President’s Report – April 13th 2025
Silver Springs Equine 2024 Incorporated
On Sunday, 13th April 2025, our Annual General Meeting was held with all committee members present. It marked a powerful moment of reflection on just how much we’ve accomplished in our first year, and where we’re heading next.
As President, I’m honoured to share a snapshot of our journey so far.
Charity Status & DGR Application
We proudly became a registered not-for-profit charity, a milestone that underpins our commitment to defending the freedom of Australia’s wild heritage horses. Following this, we submitted our Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) application, enabling us to receive tax-deductible donations and attract broader support for our cause.
Land Opportunities
Throughout the year, we explored a number of generous land lease offers. After thorough discussion and careful consideration, the committee made the decision not to proceed with these options. As a newly established charity, we’re focused on sustainable growth and realistic commitments.
Our decision was guided by lessons observed in the experience of groups like the Barmah Brumby Preservation Group, who despite years of dedication, continue to face financial challenges due to limited ongoing support. Their journey reinforced the importance of long-term sustainability and the need for a strong, consistent foundation before entering into land-based commitments.
We remain focused on our long-term goal: to purchase a property outright that can become a true preserve, a safe and permanent home for Brumbies in need.
The Brumby Land Project
The Brumby Land Project now remains our primary fundraising initiative, of establishing a dedicated Brumby preserve. This preserve will offer safety, stability, peace, purpose and a lifelong home for Brumbies.
We chose the word preserve for a reason, it reflects our deep intention to protect, honour, and ensure the ongoing legacy of these incredible horses.
Website & Awareness
To help bring visibility to the Brumby plight, we launched our official SSE2024 Inc. website. The site showcases our mission and provides updates. Through powerful photography and videography captured in the mountains, we share their stories with the world and raise awareness of the threats they face.
BEINC
We partnered with BEINC, an award-winning creative agency specialising in branding, communications, and web design to support our organisational development. With their help, we’ve laid down strong foundations that will support us as we continue to grow.
Foster Program: Gulliver & Summer
As part of our Foster Care Program, Gulliver and Summer were placed under a formal agreement that includes a lifelong lease with a peace of mind return policy, ensuring that if circumstances ever change, they can be returned to SSE2024 Inc. for ongoing care and support.
At this time, we are simply awaiting further communication from the foster carer regarding final documentation related to the long-term care agreement and equipment provided as part of the arrangement. We remain hopeful and open to reconnecting once again.
The Rescue of the Fabulous Eight
A defining highlight of the year was the rescue of eight Brumbies, affectionately referred to as the Fabulous Eight. These include mares, foals, and stallions, each now safe on private land.
Thanks to our community's generosity, we were able to provide all the essentials: steel panels, gates, water troughs, feed tubs, hay, buckets, electric fencing, and mineral blocks. Each of these items has helped us provide a safe and nurturing space while we work toward their long-term future.
Hay & Feed Supplies
Through continued donations, we’ve been able to maintain a steady supply of quality lucerne and feed, necessary for the health and wellbeing of the Brumbies in our care. Every bale purchased is a direct reflection of the support and belief our community has in our work.
Conclusion
As we look ahead, our focus remains clear:
To defend the freedom of Australia’s wild Brumbies, preserve their heritage, and create a sustainable future where they are safe, seen, and valued.
Thank you for walking beside us on this journey.
We are only just getting started.
