Gulliver’s Travels: A Rescue in the Heart of Kiandra

On Sunday, 29th September 2024, a young foal, later named Gulliver, was found alone in the Kiandra area by Lari Fari, a photographer who had been watching him in hopes that his herd would return. After hours with no sign of his mob, Lari contacted Ian and Michelle Brown, who immediately set out to rescue the colt. Gulliver is now in the care of Donna Pratt, our trusted foster foal carer. He represents both the fragility and resilience of the Kiandra Greys.

A shocking discovery in the High Country of Kosciuszko, New South Wales, has revealed the brutal treatment of Australia’s iconic Brumbies. Recently found with multiple gunshot wounds, these horses were chased into tree lines, gunned down, and left to suffer. Since the park's reopening, hundreds of Brumbies have been found dead, exposing the horrifying reality behind what is being called "humane management."

This is not management; it is cruelty, and it’s time for the global community to demand an end to this inhumane treatment.

Silver Springs Equine 2024 was born out of a deep-seated need to take action against the planned aerial shooting of Brumbies in the High Country of Kosciuszko, NSW. The thought of foals being orphaned, left to fend for themselves as helicopters chased their mothers, was a heartbreaking reality that galvanised a determined response. This was not a situation any of us would want, except for those in government and their agencies who sought the eradication of these horses.
